My first love, platform-wise, was an A500 which my parents bought the family as a "cheap games machine" (to quote my Dad). For many years, my only real interest was in point 'n' click adventures; most notably The Secret of Monkey Island, its sequels, and Broken Sword. I played many different games besides, but it usually involved staring at the opening level and dying repeatedly (for example, Another World).
For a decade I hankered after my own console. I looked on in envy as my peers played their Super Nintendos. It wasn't until I reached secondary school and a plan by my new-found friends for all to buy a Nintendo 64 that I finally got my hands on one. Ever since Mario 64 and Goldeneye, I've been a dedicated console gamer, with a bent towards platformers, adventures and anything with a sense of humour. In recent years I've become increasingly interested in retro and have recently started dabbling in console (specifically region) modification.
For NTSC-UK I act as sub-editor and, in that role, I have a tendency toward pedantry. In "real life" I'm a sometime philosopher, and photographer, with a colourful intellectual outlook, an eye for detail, and a devilish wit.
